Cave Dogs offers hands-on training in shadow theater techniques and age-appropriate workshop opportunities for primary, secondary and collegiate school levels, theatre groups and various community and professional organizations.
Through our performances we work to create new alliances in our audiences. One of our most important commitments is to continue to remain accessible, approachable, and to perform in a wide array of venues. After each performance, we invite the audience to come behind the scrim to create their own imagery through the use of our props and equipment. We intend for our shows to inspire people to create their own work, and see the possibility art possesses to transform their immediate environments.
Several members of Cave Dogs are Arts Educators and have regularly been active participants in community outreach, such as workshops, festivals, and special events as an extension of the performance work. This work takes us to from fine art venues and theaters to multi-use community centers, K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and open-air performances for the public.
Workshops and Classes
Workshops are tailored to the needs of the each group/client. The focus can involve the entire, or parts of, the production process, which include script writing, storyboarding, set design, creating props, puppets, and costumes, choreographing movement and dance, creating an original soundtrack (music, voices, sound effects), shooting and projecting video and photographs, a wide variety of lighting techniques and overall visual design. Some or all of these elements culminate in an original performance, in which participants showcase their work and perform on a large screen.
Workshops may vary from 1-5 days, or ongoing classes. Rates may be adjusted to fit budget restraints. Please contact us for more information on scheduling a workshop or class.
